Great Songs With a Halloween Theme: "Witch Queen of New Orleans"

The second in my series of Halloween song recommendations.  First of all, I just love Redbone, okay?  Secondly, this song appeals to my mysterious side.  Yes, I do have one :-).  It just oozes that whole funky New Orleans/voodoo/live oaks and Spanish moss/above-ground cemetery atmosphere to me.

The instrumentation in this song is phenomenal and really sets off the voodoo-y story of the song, the legendary Creole voodoo priestess Marie Laveau.

"Early one mornin' into mucky swamp dew, vanished Marie with hate in her eyes
Though she'll never return, all the Cajuns knew, a Witch Queen never dies"
